Energy, regeneration and purpose…

Energy, regeneration and purpose…

Now that it’s been just over a week since I completed the long walk from Brisbane to Byron, my body is becoming re-energised again. I though I was Superwoman and that I’d be back to my usual routine and high energy levels the day after, with a good nights sleep. Not so. My body had other ideas. This walk taught me many learnings, one of them being that it’s in control of my movements, and if it’s tired and doesn’t want to move, it won’t. It will shut down or incapacitate me somehow to get me to heed it’s desires. I learnt very quickly to honour my body, and still am doing so.

In the meantime while I recover the energetic forces I depleted, I’m still looking after clients, just a bit more slowly. I’m still very much focused on continuing to raise funds to take as many therapists as we can over to Bangladesh. The children need our help. Will they die without our help? Assuredly, yes! Is what we do so valuable that it can put an end to children suffering and dying from diseases and preventable ailments? It is, though probably not to accomplish that in its entirety! That’s a big call, and my ego has challenges believing I can do such grandiose acts.

Though, we can make a massive difference to the lives of the children we work on, and to the parents of these children. The more independent the children are (and healthier, thus needing less constant care and supervision), the less time and resources are required by the parents. That frees them to continue earning a living (as best they can) to support their families.

The young girl in this photo with her Mum is two and a half. She has cerebral palsy, due to birth complications. Her Mum carries her everywhere, constantly caring for her needs. She’s unable to work due to her situation. The doctor I’ll be working with in Bangladesh asked to help this child via a Skype session. I shared with the doctor a treatment plan for the child. He’s reported amazing changes within the child. I look forward to meeting her and seeing this transformation for myself when I go over. I changed the dates to mid-March for our trip over to Bangladesh, as this will give us extra time to continue raising funds.

Someone asked me yesterday if I’d do this walk again? Unhesitatingly, I said yes. If I’d been offered the $45,000 to walk to Sydney, I would have. My passion to help these children around the world, drives my very soul. It’s my existence. It’s why I get up every day.
